
RBIHF National Coaching Clinic – Learn to Play (LTP) 2025

Target Audience: Coaches working with U8, U10, and U12 age groups
Course Overview
This basic-level course is specifically designed for coaches working with the youngest players in our sport. It provides essential knowledge and practical tools aligned with the IIHF Player Development Framework, including:
- Cross-ice games
- Station-based practice formats
- Recruitment and retention strategies for young players
Certification Requirement
This certification is mandatory for all coaches working with U8, U10, and U12 teams under RBIHF regulations.
Course Structure
The program consists of the following components:
- Two-day theoretical course
- Open-book theoretical evaluation
- Practical evaluation during two mandatory LTP sessions throughout the season
Certification Process
- Upon successful completion of the theoretical evaluation, participants will receive a temporary LTP Coach Certificat valid for the 2025–2026 season.
- After completing the practical evaluation during an official LTP event, the final certification will be awarded.

Coach Level 1 Certification
Season: 2025–2026
Target Group: U14–U16 Coaches
Program Overview
This introductory certification is designed for new and aspiring coaches who want to build a strong foundation in youth hockey coaching. It is ideal for those preparing to coach U14 and U16 teams.
The Level 1 program combines essential theory with practical, hands-on learning to ensure immediate application in real coaching environments.
Course Curriculum Highlights

Kickoff Workshop (2 Days – September in Mechelen):
- Introduction to coaching principles
- Child development and basic game strategies
- Practice planning, communication, and safety
- Group activities and practical demonstrations

Online Open-Book Evaluation:
- Accessible after the workshop

- Practice observation and feedback by RBIHF mentors or instructors

Certification & Progression
Graduates receive a Level 1 Coach Certificate, valid for two seasons, allowing them to coach or assist youth teams at their local clubs.
